Queen's Nursing and Health Quality researchers, in collaboration with the University of Gondar and funded by the MasterCard Foundation, are partnering with Ethiopian students with disabilities to support their post-secondary studies.
Preparing successful funding applications can be challenging for researchers in any stage of their academic career—but especially if you're new to the process. As part of the Queen's Nursing and Health Quality Research Review, we interviewed two Queen's School of Nursing PhD learners to ask them what they love about their research projects, and any advice they might have for new doctoral students applying for their own research funding.

In 2021, over 8,000 people in Canada died from opioid-related causes. In the United States, where nursing PhD student Martha Whitfield currently lives and works as a nurse practitioner, the number of deaths related to opioid poisoning exceeded 40,000 that year.
