I began teaching within the clinical setting in 2009 primarily focusing on maternal child and pediatric nursing. I joined the faculty full time in 2023. I teach in the undergraduate program in years 2, 3, and 4. I strive to foster critical thinking skills and to help students develop evidence-based problem-solving strategies that they can implement in the clinical setting. I believe my role as an educator is to enable students to achieve the goals set for them as well as the goals, they have set for themselves.
I strive to create an engaging learning environment such that learners feel safe and have access to the necessary educational tools to support their learning. I communicate my enthusiasm for nursing with students by sharing my personal clinical experiences, role modeling curiosity, and bringing humor to our interactions. I aim to inspire students to use best practices and sound knowledge to inform a nursing practice that is caring, considerate and respectful.
