Teaching

I believe my role as an educator is to assist students in preparing to function as highly skilled and competent clinicians within the Nursing profession.  In 2010, I began teaching as a clinical instructor within the undergraduate program with a focus on the maternal-child acute care setting.  Over the years, I have taught in a variety of theory courses, labs and practicums in the community and hospital setting.  I have found these experiences to be enriching to my nursing career, as I believe nurses hold a responsibility to share knowledge and skills to increase the clinical competence and confidence of our future nurses. It has been rewarding to observe students bridge the gap between theory and nursing practice, as well as enhance their critical thinking.

As a certified lactation consultant, my Master of Science thesis focused on the use and exchange of donor human milk. I completed a qualitative content analysis to explore the online sharing of human milk utilizing a commerce-free approach.
