Dr. Mahar is an epidemiologist and health services researcher interested in using population-based, administrative data to answer policy-relevant questions that address inequitable health outcomes, healthcare access, and delivery. Her program of research is focused on cancer, mental health, and the health and wellbeing of Veterans and military families.
Dr. Mahar is currently recruiting graduate students (thesis-based MNSc, MSc Public Health Sciences, PhD Health Quality, and PhD Public Health Sciences) for funded opportunities on the following active projects:
- End of life cancer care for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Cancer screening among adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Physical activity and nutrition among youth in military connected families
- Mental health among youth in military connected families
- Other opportunities focused on equitable cancer care delivery, the health and wellbeing of Veterans or military families
